Planning your honeymoon is one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning — but it can also feel a little overwhelming. There are so many incredible places to choose from, and suddenly you’re trying to work out weather, budgets, flight times and what kind of honeymoon you actually want.
One of the easiest ways to narrow it down is by month, because the best destinations really do change throughout the year.
So here’s a simple, honest guide to some of the best honeymoon destinations for 2026, broken down by when you’re travelling.
January – March
These months are perfect if you’re dreaming of winter sun and escaping the cold.
Maldives
The ultimate honeymoon destination. Think overwater villas, private pools and total relaxation. January to March is one of the best times for weather here.
Dubai
Hot but not unbearable, perfect for luxury hotels, rooftop pools, desert safaris and amazing food.
Thailand
Great weather in places like Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui. Ideal if you want a mix of beaches, culture and adventure.
Caribbean
Barbados, Antigua and St Lucia are all beautiful at this time of year, with warm weather and stunning beaches.
Best for: beach lovers, luxury, relaxation, long-haul escapes.

April – June
These months are amazing for Europe and shoulder-season travel.
Italy
Rome, Florence, Lake Como and the Amalfi Coast are all stunning in spring. Warm but not too hot, and less crowded than summer.
Santorini, Greece
Whitewashed buildings, blue domes, sunsets and romantic vibes everywhere.
Bali
Dry season starts, so it’s a great time for Ubud, Seminyak and Uluwatu.
Portugal
Lisbon, the Algarve or Madeira for sunshine without extreme heat.
Best for: culture, food, city breaks, European romance.

July – September
Summer honeymoons are gorgeous, but you’ll want to think about heat.
Greek Islands
Mykonos, Rhodes, Crete, Zakynthos — perfect summer honeymoon vibes.
French Riviera
Nice, Monaco, Cannes. Luxury, beaches, cocktails and glamorous towns.
Canada
If you want something different — Banff, Lake Louise and Vancouver are incredible in summer.
Italy (again!)
Still beautiful, just busier and hotter.
Best for: European summer, island hopping, lakes, scenic trips.

October – December
One of my favourite times for honeymoons.
Mauritius
Beautiful beaches, great resorts and amazing weather in autumn.
Seychelles
Very romantic, quieter, and perfect for luxury honeymoons.
Japan
October and November are ideal for cities like Tokyo and Kyoto, with autumn colours and mild temperatures.
New York + Caribbean
A classic multi-centre: city break followed by beach.
Best for: luxury, multi-centre, autumn sun.

How to Choose Your Honeymoon Destination
Instead of just picking somewhere because it looks good on Instagram, ask yourselves:
Do we want beach, city or a mix?
Do we want to relax or explore?
What’s our realistic budget?
How far do we want to travel?
Do we want all-inclusive or boutique hotels?
There’s no right or wrong answer — the best honeymoon is the one that fits you as a couple.
My Biggest Honeymoon Tip
Don’t feel pressure to choose what everyone else is doing. Some couples want two weeks in the Maldives, others want road trips, city breaks, or multi-centre adventures.
Your honeymoon should feel special to you, not just look good online.
